Maria Berrios was born in El Salvador in 1959 and has been gracing Creativity Explored with her dynamic artwork and jovial nature since 1999.
She works in a variety of drawing media and also enjoys printmaking. As is evident from all of her vibrant works, Berrios’ favorite color is red. From family groupings, flora, and fauna, this hue is well represented with all of her typical subjects. Berrios’ art making process is very slow and meticulous. After sketching her composition, she often places her subjects around the picture plane so that the piece may be viewed from any direction.
In 2010, Berrios’ piece “Entre flores y pajaros” was chosen by our community arts partner CB2 as the imagery for a limited edition rug.
