Miyuki Tsurukawa was born in 1986 in San Francisco. Since 2008, she has been making art at Creativity Explored.
Her two-dimensional work is characterized by bold depictions of birds and other animals against a vibrantly brushed background, highlighting her assured line and sense of proportion. Tsurukawa’s ceramics have these same bold, impressive aspects. She makes sculptural portraits of characters, animals, and food items, as well as variously sized containers that are utilitarian, beautiful, and highly prized by the staff. Tsurukawa then painstakingly colors every feature of her ceramics, giving them the same life-like assurance of her paintings.
